The idea for dwella came from my own experience. At 20, I was moving to London and trying to navigate finding somewhere to live. It was an exciting step, but I also remember how vulnerable and uncertain the process could feel - especially when trying to work out not just where I would live, but who I would be living with.
Finding a decent property was hard enough. Finding a good home to share with other women felt harder still.
When I finally moved in, I learned two more things the difficult way. The agreement I signed turned out to contain licence arrangements I did not properly understand at the time. And the people I ended up sharing with simply were not a good fit. Nobody's fault, but nobody's idea of home either.
That is why I built dwella. I think finding a home should mean more than finding an available room. It should mean finding people you are genuinely likely to enjoy living with, and going into the whole process knowing what you are agreeing to.
So I brought the two together: property search and compatibility-led flatmate matching, in one women-focused community.
