Safety Centre

Practical guidance for finding a home and a flatmate. If something feels wrong, trust that feeling - block, report, and step away.

What Verified dwella member means - and doesn't

This member has completed dwella's identity check. Verification helps us maintain the community, but it doesn't guarantee someone's behaviour or safety.

An unverified member isn't necessarily a risk, and a verified one isn't a guarantee. Keep using your judgement either way.

Meeting flatmates

Chat inside dwella until you're comfortable. Meet somewhere public first, tell someone where you're going, and leave whenever you want to.

Property viewings

Exact addresses are only shared once a viewing is confirmed and you've said you're attending. Never view a property alone if you'd rather not - bring a friend or a Group member.

Share My Viewing

Send a private link to someone you trust before you set off. It shows where you're going, when, and whether you've marked yourself as arrived. The link expires 24 hours after the viewing.

Money and deposits

Never send money before you've carried out appropriate checks and are comfortable with the rental arrangement. Nobody at dwella will ever ask you to pay rent, a deposit or a holding fee through us.

Blocking

Blocking stops messages and requests immediately and removes her from your discovery. You can see and undo your blocks in your account settings; she is never told either way.

Reporting

Reports go straight to the dwella team and are never shown to the person you reported. Tell us what happened and we'll review it.

Protecting personal information

Keep surnames, workplaces, bank details and identity documents out of chat. dwella never needs your bank details, and identity documents go to our verification provider, not into a conversation.

In an emergency

If you're in immediate danger, contact the emergency services on 999. Report it to us afterwards so we can act on the account.

Managing your blocks and notifications lives in your settings.
